Default Petco near Belmont & Ashland in Chicago

I had to run out and get a replacement for a failed filter last night. Here's what I found in the aquatic department:
Every one of those fish are dead. The big clump of them in the back is all the fish being sucked into the filter intake. There were two other tanks just like this and various other fish in other tanks sort of just drifting around upside down on their last legs.

I told an employee and they said "Yeah, feeders just do that."

The photo was removed by a mod. A pretty silly thing to do - everyone here should be familiar with the appearance of dead fish - it is part of the hobby at some point or another. The sheer number of fish is pretty striking, and the photo is necessary to convey that.

But the problem with that is some of those places can file suit against the forum and forum owners so its best not to post pics of those things.

It had nothing to do with the fact it being dead fish. It has to do with legal issues. I have seen it happen before on bigger forums than this one.

I see. They would have no legal ground to stand on, but I can see why you would want to avoid the hassle.

The fact that feeder fish do get wiped out like that, and that they are carriers of all kind of nasties.
Of course they should have immediately removed all dead fish.
And of course as most places, they probably won't do anything to the tank either... Just add the new batch, and pass on whatever may be in the tank.
