After picking up my pumpkinseeds (another thread) I went fishing in the pond to see what fish were there. I caught 8 loaches. I think they are Cobitis paludica. They have very attractive markings are charming to watch. I have not lost any. They seem healthy hardy and eat anything.
I have them in a quarentine tank for now which is not full to the top. I want to set them up in a larger comunity tank (small fish only) but I'm wondering if I have to seal every crack so they won't get out like with weather loaches? The tank is covered but there are always holes where the filter tubes are etc. They do jump up the sides of the tank sometimes but it has not been a problem with the tank only half full. With the tank full will they squeeze out of small holes? Does anyone keep these loaches? Any general info would also be helpful. |

When it comes to loaches, it's probably always safe to assume they'll jump out given the chance.

I'm not worried so much about normal jumping as the tank is propperly covered but I'm not sure if I have to seal all the little cracks? They are pretty skinny so if they are actually going to try and squeeze out they will be a nightmare fish to keep in.
