Default Weather Loaches

I've read up on how to care for them and I learned about their crazy antics, now I really want some. I even already have the correct substrate on hand. However, most of the websites I looked at don't specifically say how big of a tank they need. I am aware that bigger is always better, but I want to know if 20 gallons is ok or is it just too small? I wouldn't consider putting two in there to be a good idea, but can I put some smaller fish in with one loach? And what kind? I wanted to ask all you weather loach keepers since you are the ones with experience. Also, is distilled water ok?

Default Re: Weather Loaches

they're pretty slow growers, but if kept long enough, they can approach 10 inches long ( too large for a 20 gallon in my opinion, since they're pretty active and need room to move about)

but as I mentioned, they're pretty slow growers; it could take a young one that's 2 or 3 inches long YEARS to grow to 5 or 6 inches long. so he may be fine in a 20 gallon for years to come, but eventually he'd out grow it
