Default What do you guys think of Albino Corys?

Just wondering if they are good tank mates for danios or tetras??

Yes they are, you will want to get at least 3 possibly 4 for your tank. I have about 20 of them and they get pretty active and will breed easily when you want to breed them.

Susan, you know my tank, so, if i have 6 danios and 6 tetras, or maybe just ten danios (me and danios -_-) think i could get 4 in there?

Hello Rob...

You won't find a more peaceful fish and a better tankmate for your small fish than Corydoras. Just my opinion, of course.

I've had them for several years with my Fancy Guppies and they're awesome. Albino Corys are likely the least expensive, most available and one of the hardiest of the Corys. I have a half a dozen different kinds: Albino, Green, Orange Saddle (very small, about an inch or so), Julii, Melanistius. I think that's all. A couple species can get fairly large. I have one or two that are about 3 inches or so, had them for a long time. Still, no matter the size, they're very peaceful.

Corydoras, like most tropicals do best with a lot of clean water and are sensative to poor tank conditions. I have large tanks and change half the water weekly. Not many "waterkeepers" do this, but I dose a teaspoon of standard aqaurium salt for every five gallons of my water change water. I really have nothing to back this up, but my fish are extremely healthy and I've never had a disease in any of my tanks.

Above everything else, have fun!

B

Thanks for all the info brad, most all of my danios are fully grown about 2.5 inches, my tank is a 25 gallon tank just for some FYI. Uhh i have seen them in my LFS (which i must say i brag a little about LFS) anways, umm yeah anymore info in these would be great as they are really neat fish.

If you keep up with tank maint. you can handle 4 but no more. And albinos will get to about 2 inches but they are so cool.

Yeah I really like them I added 2 more leopard danios, so i dont think i will get and tetras. But, I am going to wait about three weeks till the levels settle back down after adding these fish. Thats all the fish i am going to add though, until i get the corys. So, good Idea of not?

corys seem pretty awesome! just got two small albinos today, and a large emerald, who is gorgeous. they seems really energetic but also shy and timid at the same time. they love swimming into and hiding out in my hollow log, they seem like they are gonna be great fish!
