Default Oto activity!

Added 4 very small Otos to my 20 gal tall planted tank on Monday. All doing super, eating like mad & they are literally growing before my eyes! Have observed an interesting behavior, about 30 min prior to lights-out (lights on via timer for 10 hrs/day), they do what I call a 'crazy dog run' around the tank, several times (my show dogs seem to do this when they're extra happy-hence the label).

That's how I know all 4 are fine, can easily account for them then. After a few laps, they settle back down to eating. Just wondering if anyone else has observed this.

ps. James0816 sorry you were under the weather this past Sunday! could have taken some of that subwasserang off your hands!!! Next time!

Good behavior for a group of Oto's. I love watching it. I'll have to shoot another video of my juvies doing it. Large group of around 20 zipping around. Pretty kewl. All's fine and dandy until they bump into one of the adults. ;oP

Sry I missed ya. I hate being ill. :(

Just pulled another ton of Sub from another tank.

My lonely oto does this too, but usually when the lights come on in the morning. I wish had more room in the tank to get a few more.

So I have had the 4 oto cats for about 6 weeks now. It is amazing how much they've grown!!! They actually look like fish when before they looked like tiny tadpoles. Their evening crazy fish runs have tamed down some since they've gotten larger, but 3 of them still hang out together most of the time. The 4th one is quite a bit larger than the others, and prefers to hang with the 2 parotocinclus (who are probably 5 cm in length tops). Maybe he/she has big dreams??? Really enjoying these fish, almost as much as the dwarf puffers in the other planted tank.
