I got 3 Otocinclus cats from the LFS the other day. They are very small, like .75 in or 19mm. I believe that makes them VERY young juveniles. I was wondering from oto breeders what to expect and how to help them grow up big and strong.

The biggest thing will be feeding them. They will graze on surfaces for any soft algae buildups and biofilm. However, it's always best to suppliment their diet. Getting them to eat preparred foods can be a bit tricky. Kens Fish has some excellent feeds. Veggie Flakes and Veggie Sticks do well. You can also use seaweed sheets in moderation. Freshly blanched veggies like zucchini are a big hit as well.
A nice planted tank will go along ways for them as well. Any other questions, feel free to ask. J. |

Ok thanks. Yeah everything I read about them says they eat alot. Fortunately they all seem pretty healthy so hopefully I won't experience their notorious mortality rate.
