From what I've been reading, it seems recommended that cories be bought in schools. DO they all have to be the same? In other words can I get 4 albinos, 4 emeralds, and 4 juliis. Will they all become part of the same school, or will I have 3 micro-schools.
I'm not trying to breed just thinking of variety for a community tank. Thanks.

Minimum is 3 or 4 cories of each species. Sometimes they will shoal together sometimes they won't You should be fine though with 4 of each species as long as your tank is big enough for 12 cories.

+1. Sometimes corys will stick with their own species, other times they'll all school together. More likely than not, they'll hang together in a big school. I'd recommend pands corys; they're very sociable and fun the watch.
