Smile new tank to me

well went and picked up what was supposed to be a thirty gal tank today at 11:ooam my time.. Bonus turns out to be a forty gal long tank in serious need of a good cleaning.spent the rest of the day scrubbing all the hard water marks off of it useing a solution of viniger and water looks almost like a new tank now. I did not wash the gravel or ornaments that were in it nor did I clean the filter.. the silver dollar fish that cme with it is in my qt tank for the time being.. tomarrow will fill and start with the cycle useing both the gravel from this tank and the filter..question how long will the cycle take.. thanks all for any input...

Default Re: new tank to me

nice!

always great to get more for your money

if you're reusing the old gravel and even filter from the tank and it was established before, assuming it all stayed wet during the move and didn't dry out and kill all the good bacteria, there shouldn't be much of a cycle at all.

you might get a small ammonia spike in the first day few days as the new water is "adjusted", but you'll probably be safe after a week, 2 weeks at most
