Default New betta

I got my betta yesterday and acclimated him over 4 hours.
Hes in a 3G tank with all the proper set up inc aeration and filtration.
Hes happily swimming around and hiding behind the plants (alot of the time) but I guess its cos hes in a new tank.
The problem is he wont eat, I got him the pellet food for bettas and all he does is stare at it and let it drop to the bottom, is this normal or something to keep an eye on? Is he just settling in?
Also, my old heater broke and the new one should be coming tomorrow but for now I got a hot water bottle under his tank which keeps the temp at around 23C and he seems alot happier.

Any ideas as to why hes not eating?

could be not used to anything other than live or frozen foods.Just give him some time.

You need to get the tank temp to a stable 28.This is much better for him.Are the plants live or fake?If fake, plastic or silk?

any pics?He could just be stressed so give him some time. But do share pics!

my heater should come tomorrow and its got different settings on it to keep the lil guy warm but guess a water bottle is better than letting the water go cold.
the plants are fake soft plastic ones so he wont catch his fins and tail, I felt them before putting them in.
ill ring the fish store tomorrow and ask what they feed their bettas to see what hes used to, but I guess if hes hungry enough he'll eat the pellets.
