Are there other fish in the tank? Bullied fish will hide. New fish are often shy while they settle in. Make sure water quality is good, rams are sensitive. Less than perfect water quality can make them unhappy, unhappy fish will hide and stop eating. In general having plenty of plants and decor will help shy fish be braver. How big is your tank? Rams need space to have their own territory.
