+1 The males have much more defined dark coloration on the first 3 dorsal rays and across the eyes.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if I have to replace one.
When I was buying the GBR, the colors are fine until the guy started trying to catch it. All changed color and hard to tell apart.

I have been to a lot of web sites regarding GBR and most says that if there are blue spots on the black dot behind the eye, it's female. If not blue spots on the black dot, it is male.

There was even a site that says the female are larger, compared to most site that says the male is larger.

There is also the pink belly for the female.

Females have short dorsal rays and a pink belly area, if you see pink on the actual belly its a female, some males develop a small patch of pink but its not near their belly but this is usally when they are coloring up for spawn.

Either way your pair look good, dont hold your hopes high but they might spawn for you.

They started out ok, then after a couple of days, the male started chasing the female away. Now it seems that they are getting along fine again unless there is food, then the male chases the female away again.

Do GBR need like a 1:2 ratio male or female?
