Ive researched a lot about jd's and there seems to be no definate other than venting, and I just dont like the idea of handling them like that. does any one know how big they need to be to try by facial markings? or maybe another possible way?

I was given a pair of jack dempseys. The male is quite a bit bigger then the female and has a lot more of the shinney blue spots, like twice as many. I don't know if that is completely reliable.
