Default Question re: Juvenile Angels starting to mate

I have 13 total juvenile angelfish with 6 in a community 75 and 6 by themselves with a cory in a 29 and now have 2 setup 20 highs in waiting with active filters and 6 platys in each for past month. Platys will be taken out when I put mated pairs in just so they keep filters active and somewhat balanced. I moved one pair this morning and another two moved into their spot immediately with one other pair that has paired up on other side just past day it appears. My question is the pair that took over are only two left that for sure aren't paired up....one keeps running the other around and then they end up together and both run others off, but again they were like sparring with kind of lip lock on each other but still one seems a little aggressive towards the other, but again they seem to end up on same side and I was thinking that is because the other pair is making them be on that side. I added two more same age juveniles from 29 this morning to maybe see if they were same sex and maybe they will fall in love with one of the new ones! Does that make fish sense.....many years with fish but brand new at trying breeding these angels. Any input I would appreciate....sorry for such long winded post, but wanted to add in what I was doing with all of them.

They are silver dollar size and bigger a couple and one is smaller. They are approximately same age. One of the two that mated is larger than dollar easily.

They haven't mated and just starting to pair up, that will take them through a few changes before they mate up and ready to spawn. Once they mate up you won't see the pair lip locking that much. They usually hit about 3 inches body mass before that happens.

To young and to small. They will choose permanent pairs when they get older and ready to mate. When you do finally get mated pairs ready to spawn, learn all you can, and then more. Breeding Angles isn't that easy. Getting eggs is the easy part. Getting them to hatch, and survive is more challenging. I quit trying to breed angels about 25 years ago.

ok, if they are just pairing up and not really mating yet, then does this mean they are actually a future mating pair? Can I assume one is male and one is female even though they are too young? Will they stay together as a pair now they have seperated themselves from others and stay together and run everything off that comes close, should I remove them to a solitary tank by themselves yet? Sorry, a lot of questions in one post.

Should I have moved the one pair to the other tank or should I leave them in big tank with others until when?

Leave them in the main tank. This type of pairing can be 2 females or 2 males. Usually it doesn't amount to much until they are bigger.

I had a mated pair that both turned out to be females. Got lots of unfertilized eggs. They were huge. Six inches top to bottom, in a 45 gallon tank. I couldn't find a male that size and they killed every smaller Angel I put in with them. Angels are cichlids. Learn everything you can about them to breed them sucessfully.

Yes, I will put the two back in main tank then. I thought they were still pretty young. I definately have another pair that have paired up as well on opposite end of 75, and I will just keep them there until they spawn and then move them which sounds like awhile anyway. It is not the end of the world if that happens in main tank anyway, then I will know for sure! Thanks for information, don't know what I would do without all the knowledge on here. Especially Navigator Black, that guy knows freshwater fish as well as a host of others on here too!
Thanks again!
