I am currently setting up a 110 gallon tank as a cichlid tank. The tank came with 3 fish, 2 red hook silver dollars (which I want to get rid of) and one fully grown Jack Dempsey. The question is how big do other cichlids have to be before I introduce them? If they have plenty of hiding spaces is it ok to add 1-1.5" juveniles? How aggressive are the Jack Dempsey's to smaller guys?
I added a blood parrot I had in another tank who is about 3-4" long and they swim together all the time. Thanks guys! |

Jack Demseys are very territorial and also love to eat small fish. He will consider your small fish as intruders and will attack and eat them.
