Thanks guys. It came with a Magnum Hot filter. The guy was using it with an UGF running with power heads. The substrate is solid black gravel. Not sure just what it is.
The stand and the canopy were made by him. Lighting is a no-frills 3 T8's (DIY) built into the canopy. I downloaded the PDF manual for the Mag. filter. On quick inspection I received all the parts. What sort of "custom" media do you use with this? I have rite size filter foam and polyester batting on hand.

Been off for a few days and haven't had much time for this forum thing. My youngest son graduated from HS last weekend and I have been playing stupid FB games. Only one more kid to go and she grads next year!
So I'm really excited about my new tank. I have had it full of water with the powerheads running the UGF and the Magnum Hot running since late Saturday night (5-28). No leaks and everything is running great. I'm going to use this for my two Jags and my lone JD. Thats it except maybe a pleco. Included in the purchase were two 70 Hagen Aquaclear Powerheads. The guy tried them with the UGF but they were too much. not sure what I'm gonna do with them. The stand was custom built by this guy and is way overboard. The thing weighs 160 lbs. I think he said he used all 2"x4"s and 1"x8"'s. No particle/pressed board here. So for $125.00 I got a 80g 5' long tank, custom stand and canopy with built in t8 x 3 for lights, 80 lbs of black gravel substrate, a Marine Hot HOB cannister filter, The UGF with two powerheads and the two other powerheads mentioned above. I have to wait to set it up as we are moving things out of my fishroom (treadmill, elliptical), (where am I gonna hang things now?). Then the carpet comes out of my room being replaced by a laminated floor of some type. The wife and I will be tackling this ourselves so it will be awhile until completion. I just hope my Jags and JD get along in the finished product. I have had them now going on six weeks. I had to seperate the two Jags as one was whooping the heck outa the other. They are each in a 20g that sit side by side. The aggressive one sees the other through the glass and acts like he is going to get him LOL. The JD I bought about four weeks ago is in with my Mbuna in the 100g. I originally bought him to go in with the aggressive Jag. The JD was larger than the JAG and I could tell when I was floating the bag that the JD was gonna kick the Jags booty so in the Mbuna tank with his bad a** he went. Very much to my suprise the JD is doing well with the much larger Mbuna. He also doesen't pick on the similar sized Jewels and Yellow Lab. I know this can change in an hour (been there done that, RIP Sevrum). I'm watching as close and as often as able. So far no problems. Will keep updating as progression warrants. One question I have for people with Magnum Hot filters is what types of custom media is used in this filter? I have polyester batting and rite size filter foam. It also has the factory made blue foam media on it all ready.

Hrmm got a link to the filter by chance? Most of the filters have recommended media placement but really it's up to you on how you stock it.

Did it just come with the polishing pad or did you get the carbon filter insert thing?Ill take a pic of mine if you dont know what I mean. The carbon container, you can fill with ceramic circles,or what I did was break a ton of terra cotta pots and toss them in there. You cant really use the rite size filter pads because the design of the canister.(its basically the same as the magnum 350 canister, just a little smaller)Not a bad filter for polishing the water, but not alot of options on the media either.
