Every petland in my neighborhood sells them for like 14$ each. Ive seeen them at almost every aquarium store in NYC i dont know if they are harder to find where you are from. Ive heard that they are picky eaters and in some cases people had them starve to death.

40 bucks for a one inch blue jack sounds ridiculous. I see them at a local pet store near my house a 2-3 inches long for around 20 dollars if I remember correctly. I have also read they are finicky. The younger ones will be a little cheaper, but are more likely to die on you. They are a little more common in stores then they were when I first heard of them and might not be so difficult now, but it partly depends on the store. Are the tanks kept clean, or are they overstocked with cloudy water, does the fish you want to buy appear healthy and active? things like that.

I got two of them at PETSMART for $10.00, I don't live in a large city. The larger one is doing fine, the smaller one may have disappeared. Nice, bright colors on them!

Wow! Thats definitely the cheapest I've heard. I wonder if my aquarium store has them. The local pet store I spoke of isn't a chain and its not usually real busy in there, but the aquarium store, also not a chain, is really nice and always packed. It'll be interesting to see price differences.

My bluman cost 48 bux in Long Island and he was about 1.5 inch long. I thought they were pricey fish everywhere.
