Question any kinds of fish to pair with cichlids?

i want to get a cichlid soon for my 29g tank. It is currently cycling so i have some time to choose what fish i want. i'm not sure what kind of cichlid i will be getting but i assume it will be an aggressive or semi-agressive type. are suckers okay to put in with it? possibly a few snails? maybe even another cichlid? i'm just brainstorming right now, and was wondering if you guys had any ideas. thanks!

With a 29 gallon, what immediately comes to mind are kribs and rams, which are fairly small, fairly peaceful for cichlids. They really love planted tanks and are even good community tank mates. There's a lot of YouTube videos of them in community settings, and a 29 gallon would be perfect for that.

Be careful with mixing the kribs and rams as they do get somewhat territorial.

I wouldn't put them both in the same tank, but just one type, mixed with other community fish would be nice.

Not always true. I have a krib, blue ram and a Bolivian ram in my community tank. Oddly they are best mates....... I think if anyone was to breed then I would have a problem. The krib is female, blue a male and bolivian a female. I hope the rams don't cross breed. They will be trouble with all other fish in the tank.

A Jewell Cichlid would work well also.
