Default Wrong kind of algae eater

I have a 20 gallon aquarium. It has a school of 5 young tiger barbs in it. So I was having a big problem with brown algae, and i went to petsmart to get a couple oto cats. The guy at petsmart accidentally sold me two CAEs. They have eaten all the algae, but now im not sure what to do with them. I'm pretty sure my tank cant even handle one of them. So i guess i should try to find someone who will take them? Maybe if the algae comes back ill get some actual oto cats, or can someone reccomend a better species for my tank?

Those fish will also get to big for your tank, and will also start tryng to suck the slime coat off of fish. I would suggest to see if you can give them back where you got them.

That is what i thought. Should i get some otos at some point? If so how many do you think? I heard they were happier in groups. Or is there some other algae eating creature you think would be better suited for the job?

The tank should be established fairly good before putting otos in. How long has it been set up? Depending on if your planning any other fish in the tank, get at least 3 or so.

I don't think i have room for anything other than a few otos in there, besides tiger barbs dont get along well with much. My tank is about 2 months old, how long do you think i should wait? Three sounds like a good number to me. Do you have any tips on caring for otos?
