Default Sick Sterbai!

Can anyone diagnose my symptoms? I'm leaning towards stress as the culprit but I want to make sure it's not something else. I have 2 lone sterbai corries in my 33gal along with the other fish in my signature. I realize that corries need atleast 6 of their own kind and I did have 5 albino corries in with them but unfortunately a heater malfunction sent them too the other side so I'm working on getting 4 or 5 more sterbai's but they're hard to find around here. As for his symptoms, his fins all look deteriorated and his coloring slightly more dull, he also doesnt scavenge as aggresively as he used to and spends a lot of time sitting around but he does eat regularly. This hasn't happened over night either he's slowly gotten rougher lookin over a 2 month period. My other sterbai however looks healthier than ever an his habits haven't changed in the slightest.

Sick looking guy:

You can always treat the tank with an antifungal and/or fin repair treatment. You can even try to feed them garlic drops to boost the fish's immune system. It should be a simple fix since I didnt see any live plants which are sensitive to medication.

I'm actually JUST starting my hand at plants but only low tech plants for the time being, there's a small portion of java moss in the right now and I've got two amazon swords and java ferns I'm about to move out of my guppy tank into my community. What should I watch out for medicine wise with the plants? As for medicine it could be this weekend or the next before I get too the "LFS" as its an hours drive out of my way but I do have a nearby Wal-Mart I will check. How does one go about medicating using the garlic, as that's the most readily available remedy. I'm concerned about the little guy, I didn't realize how rough he looked until I went away for the weekend and saw the healthy fish before I saw him.

EDIT: Didn't proof read before I posted :S I understand that the garlic method isn't a remedy as it is more a preventive measure. That's how I meant it to sound. MY bad!

whenever choosing medication for fish, check on the back of the bottle to see if it says plant safe. And garlic is used while feeding the fish. I put 1-2 drops of garlic per feeding. Garlic is like cat nip for fish.
