I'm treating my goldfish (5 years old) for ich with rid ich, salt and higher temp (80). I noticed several of her beautiful orange scales have lost their color. Is this a new problem? I can't recall ever seeing them like this before and the light reflects off them differently.

It could be the ich, either directly caused by the parasite on the scales or because of her rubbing against things (as they do when infected with ich). It would really help if you could post a picture, though, or a more detailed description of how the scales look now compared to how they looked before.

Huh... Well, to be honest with you, I'm stumped! Maybe she is just changing color, but it could also be that she's damaging them by rubbing against rocks and things. I really don't know... Still, hopefully an expert on the subject will come along and take a look and be able to tell you what this is. Sorry... :(
With my limited experience, though, it looks to me like damaged scales... My betta had a couple a while ago, after he flared too much against the tank glass and knocked a couple of scales loose. They looked kinda similar...
