Unhappy Pop Eye

We just cant win......
Now two of our Platys have popeye :-( One of our new ones got it first. She was all of a sudden hideing for a couple days then when she came out one day we saw why. The next day on of our Platys we have had for a year has it now. .... What causes this?
We do water changes every saturday. Because of this we did a huge one this past Saturday and started treating with Maracyn.
Im not sure of our API readings but last week when I tested they wern't bad. I have a liquid test kit.
No other fish seem to be affected so hopefully it stays that way. We have 6 Platys, 4 Cardinals, Otos, a catfish, and two headlight tail light tetras.

Any advice pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

By "not bad" what do you mean? If you could post the pH, Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia readings, it would help. How large is the tank, and has it gone through the nitrogen cycle?

I'm surprised the Otos haven't died if there is an issue... they are really sensitive fish.

Exactly. No other fish are affected.
The tank is a 36 gallon. We have had it up and running for a year so its not a new tank. Ill test the water tonight and post again because im not sure. The Ph was very low I know that, a hair of ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 5 nitrates is what those were. The exact number of ammonia im not sure offhand. But we did a 50% water change on saturday

Do you let your water sit before putting it in the tank? I remember Susankat saying something about winter making more co2 in the water, which can cause pop eye if you take it right from the tap and put it in the tank. I think she said to let it sit and gass of for 24-48 hours or so, with dechlor in it...

Hmmmm.. thats interesting. Ill definitely give that a try next water change. Maybe sooner rather then later. In the mean time is there a way to help cure this?
