Hi.
I have had this aquarium with: 1 molly 1 angel fish 1 parrot fish 2 catfish 1 rainbow 1 zebra 1 tetra 1 scavanger (I don't know what he is but he is big) in a 30 gallon tank. All of these fish were established and doing great. All levels in the tank are fine. I bought a new molly about two months ago and it all seemed to be going well for a while.. Then this new mollly started having chunks taken out of his tail and slowly it looked like he was being beaten up. Finally, he died. Is that the something that happens regularly; that a new fish is just not accepted and the others "eat him"? My aquarium is so stable with the original fish. I wanted to add a few. Now I am not sure that it a good idea. Please advise. |

It would help to have pics of the inhabitants especially that scavenger fish.Good chance he will outgrow the tank.
Also the parrot fish is not a good choice for such a small tank, and the tetra needs a school. The angel will be territorial as they are cichlids(I think the parrot fish is a type of cichlid too) When you added the new guy, someone saw him as an intruder, could be the angel, could be the scavenger or it could have been the parrot fish. The thing is,your fish are not a good choice for your tank and though its working for now,it could turn really ugly when someone gets mad.I suggest you research the fish you have and try to set them up in proper housing,or any other fish you add may have the same fate as the molly who perished.
