Exclamation Maybe someone can help me? :-(

Ok so I have a 36 gallon with Platys and a few tetras.

About a month ago a few of our platys looked sick... their fins were clamped, they were sluggish...etc. They ate well, but we knew something was wrong. One of the fish had missing scales. We thought it had to be ick or another kind of bacterial infection. We went to the LFS and bought some....gosh i forget the name. some antibiotic like thing that treats ripped fins, missing scales and things. They seem to have gotten better because of that.
Now the last week its gotten worse. We've done water chages but nothing seems to be helping. I did test the water last week, and Im srry but I forgot the exact numbers in the results. I think Ph was a little low, at 6... No ammonia or Nitrites, Nitrates wasa smidge high but we did a 50% water change after those results. The results wernt hateful. Its the first time weve had this issue with them and we've had them almost a year. Two fish had ripped fins, one looks swollen around her gills and looks as if shes gasping for air... two seem fine but as active. We have neons and headlight tail lights. They are fine. its just the Platys :-(

Any thoughts??

Sounds like poor water quality. You should test again and get some more exact parameters, if possible.

Could the source of your water have changed? My utility switches from well water to reservoir water (snowmelt) throughout the year and my water parameters change a lot.

Treat with aquarium salt and API Stress Coat+ for the moment. They won't cure anything, but they will treat some of those symptoms until we can nail down the cause.

yeah I will test the water when I get home from work. We did a water change last night and we always add Stress Coat when we do that. We have salt but havent used that yet. Its the first time we have had this issue. I know it does sound like its poor quality but I feel like wehavent done anything different.
