about 2 weeks ago i bought a blue oranda... happy as **** both me and the fish.. i QT him fr about 10 days... and was satisfied that he didnt have any diseases (after i pulled a lice off him first day) i placed him in my main tank.. and i thought i had always seen a small white pimple looking spot near his face.. but never really minded it bc he was healthy looking and there was never any more of those pimples...
now this brings me to today.. about 3 weeks after buying the blue oranda.. and a couple days ago i noticed redness around the "pimple".. i thought maybe he hurt himself chasing a piece of zucchini i hadnt tied down on some rocks or driftwood.. anyways.. i now notice that the white pimple in fact looks like something is coming out.. i see the redness still there but looks like it sticking out/ coming out.. i see something maybe 0.5mm sticking out... not big.. he still seems healthy.. eating... swimming.. but what do i do?? what to look for??? what do u think it is?!?! |

A picture would help. It could be a parasite, it could be some kind of fungus, or you could be right, could be an injury.

imo set up another tank for white clouds. I am of the opinion that you have too many goldfish in that tank. After doing a bit of reading on goldfish after I had seen so many "hey is my goldfish ok in a 1 gallon tank" questions I wanted to learn more. imo goldfish should have a 30 gallon tank for the first and an extra 10 gallon for each additional. A lot of people will say 20 gallons per 1 is fine and it probably is, but they generate so much waste that I believe it should be 30 gallon per 1 and then extra 10 for each additional.
So by how I would house a goldfish you have too many. However it is my opinion and as long as your fish are happy and healthy I have no problem with how you keep your fish. As for the white clouds. I actually know a fair bit about them because I was looking to make a white cloud 10 gallon until I ran into some problems from MA law, which I am still not quite sure what the ruling is. Anywho, I wouldn't really suggest them in the same tank. The main reason is that the goldfish will get to a point where they will more than likely try to eat or just eat your white clouds. Granted with a large enough school of them and with how quickly they swim it is probably not much of a problem, but they would be stressed out. Not to mention that they need a school of 6+ (larger is always better) and with your already heavy bioload on your tank your water quality may quickly drop. Honestly I personally think that it is a bad idea. Even aqadvisor says you would be overstocked even with a small school of white clouds My suggestion is to set up a 10 or 20 gallon tank with white clouds. I personally love the golden variety and you could get both golden and normal white clouds and they would school together. just my opinion however |

I accidentally posted that in here I am gonna leave it up because it helped you, but if a moderator has a suggestion on what would be best I will follow their advice. I am also gonna post it in the appropriate topic as a quote.
