Hi, can anyone please teach me how to use a siphon in my half water tank Fiddler Crab habitat? Can you also show me how to use it without sucking on the tube? Thanks

When I used a siphon that didn't connect to the faucet I got it started by filling it with water, turning it vertical with the open end towards the bottom, and then I shook it up and down till the water started running out the other end.

I always just suck on it, because it seems like if you are shaking it up and down a whole bunch it is going to make a mess. Always make the tube go down from the tank, otherwise it won't work. So put your bucket or whatever you are siphoning into below the tank and siphon down into the bucket.

With as little water that you have in that tank, sucking on the tube will be the only way.

I use a vac with a hand pump in the middle to start it off, I love it. I saw a really small siphon the other day, actually for siphoning gas with a similar balloon type thing in the middle to squeeze, I bet it would work well in a small tank.

If you can't get the siphon going in a small tank, using a turkey baster will work. I use one in my crabs tank. Works great.

+1. I think that a turkey baster is an aqarium owner's best friend. I use mine all the time in my nano reef. Target feeding corals, topping off, and the likes.
