Hello I have been visiting the freshwater part of the forum quite frequently and I am loving my tanks so far, but I also wanted to gain some information about brackish tanks as I may set one up in the summer and I want to do some research before I even start.
What I was thinking for brackish water is a 30 gallon bumblebee goby tank. My biggest questions are how many could I keep in a tank that size. Is 30 gallons an appropriate size for them. Lastly what is the best type of substrate (gravel or sand, light color or dark color). Some after thought questions are what type of live plants could I keep and what does their natural habit look like so that could try to mimick it. Thank you in advance ![]() |

I was recently looking up brackish water plants for someone who wanted to start a brackish tank. Apparently, many of the freshwater plants can be kept in brackish tanks, if you acclimate them slowly - slowly raise the salinity over 10 days or so.
Here's a site with some plants: BracPlants scroll down to see a list of the plants. My husband wants a Mud Skipper tank... also brackish. *Sigh, one day when we have the room, lol.
