Decided to build my own tank Wanting to maximize the use of the space I have available and the only way to do that is to either build my own or have one custom built. With shipping it comes out cheaper for me to build my own.
The tank I am building will be 56"L x 18"w x 21"D and will be made out of 3/8" glass. I am going to construct a frame from aluminum or stainless steel and was wondering if I can weld a piece onto the frame that goes across the width of the tank that would help support my hood but also add replace having to "glue" a piece of glass across the top for bracing?
Also, I am going to make a frame (band) to go around the bottom as well for added structural stability. Can this just be a band or should it be an angle that wraps around the bottom of the tank as well? Should I have a brace running across the bottom of the tank too?
