So I finally caved and bought a used 24 gallon JBJ Nano cube. I got lucky and picked one up off of craigslist from 24nanoguy.
![]() As you can see there is still some coraline on the back but for the most part it cleaned up really well and it came with a couple extras like the InTank media basket and Reef Octopus skimmer. 24nanoguy suggested picking up Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies and so I did. ![]() After reading through the book and then researching online I picked up my filtration media from InTank and decided to go with a Refractometer to test Salinity. ![]() I also picked up a basic Test kit for Ammonia, Ph, Nitrate and Nitrite to get started. Once everything showed up I did some more researching and ordered 32 lbs of Bali Alor Live rock and 20 lbs of live sand from Aquatic Connection. For mixing salt I picked up a couple 5 gallon containers sort of like the culligan water ones. My house was built in 1948 so using tap water was out of question but luckily my Fiance works at a USDA lab where she has access to reverse osmosis deionized water. I picked up a 50 gallon bag of salt mix so I have plenty to use for the up coming water changes. I just grabbed the Instant Ocean salt from Petco. ![]() So until the Live Rock and Sand shows up there is not much I can show so I will be sure to continue posting updates as I can. Thanks for looking. |
