Question heater or chiller?

I am currently getting my 75g tank cleaned up, and ready to restart. I had a reef tank in the past, however, I'm thinking of just going with fowlr this time, as my reef tank had temperature problems. I have seen several times where it suggests getting a heater, to start an aquarium build; my question is this, given my history, would it be more apropriatte to get a chiller instead?

Default Re: heater or chiller?

It really depends on what your problem was. Personally I'd run both. Heaters are cheap, so no excuse there, chillers on the other hand aren't.

Set the chiller to cool if it hits your high range, and set your heater to heat at your low range.

180 gallon acrylic not setup yet. (Need a few more things before it gets filled with water.)
Tanks not setup, 10, 30, 55 with stand. Either 30 or the 55 will be the sump for the 180

Run CPU fans across the top of your water, you'd be amazed at how well they keep the water cooler.
I have Metal Halide over my tank, and it stays at 79. I use 4 CPU fans.
