I have a choice between a 180 gallon tank with the size 72 x 24 x 25 or a 195 gallon tank that is 60 x 24 x 31. My question is a longer tank (72 x 24 x 25) better for discuss or is the taller shorter length tank better (60 x 24 x 31)? I have space for either. Thanks

Actually either one will work. Just remember the taller the tank the more your arm has to go into it if you want to plant it. I know my 220 is 31 inches tall and is a pain for me.

I have a 210 and its armpit deep. I only tinker in the tank when the 50% pwc is happening, makes for a little less mess.
Either of those tanks will be fine for you, my 210 is 6'x2'x30" or somewhere around there. |

Discus usually prefer taller tanks.

It's my understanding.. and I'm new at this, is that Discus being at that are elongated, prefer a deeper tank.. and that they do best in packs of at least 6 ?.. Bad info? I've now got 9 in a 75G .. soon to be moved to a 155 L.. that I feel is shortchanging them from a 155T on the horizon.. Bill in Va.
