Hi To everyone, I am new to the forum so here goes!
I have a 100g tank that did have a variety of fish which i have set up in a new tank so i can use this one for discus. I have a fluval 405 1300litr ph cannister, kh2, gh1, nitrate 0 ph 6.9. temp on 82f tank 10 years old. I purchased 3x 2inch and 1x large 5inch discus, the three 2inch are great eating and moving constantly through the tank, the big guy moves occasionally and eats maybe 1 or 2 blood worms here and there or a little shrimp brine but doesnt tuk in like the others. I am going to buy more discus when our fish shop has them for sale in about 5 weeks as i live in Perth Australia and we dont have a big supply here. Should i be worried about my big discus or is he just shy while he settles in, i have had him for 2 weeks. Thanks. |

never had much to do with discus but could need a little more time to settle in i guess, just read in a book i got that it may take a few days for them to feed once purchased, but once they settled in there should be no problems

I dont know alot about Discuc yet but I am intrested in hearing what others have to say.I have read that Discus like to be in groups,I wonder if the size difference has anything to do with the big one being alone?

yes i was wondering if it takes them a while to settle, i know he was in the fish shop for over 3 weeks.
I also think it is the size difference as well because the 3 smaller ones all stick together, thanks for the reply's. |

I just got two discus fish. They are my first. I got them on 3/17. Today is 3/20 and one of them is already eating from my fingers while the other hides behind my plants still but he follows the lead of the more confident one. I suspect the second (smaller, darker) one will come around once it sees that I am not a harm or threat.
