Default 2 Jack Dempsey & 1 Tigar Oscar

I finally figured out how to use this site. I think! I probably know the answer to this query but would like input just the same. I have 2 J.D.s and a TIGER OSCAR I would like to put in a 40g together, what do you guys think?

A 40 gallon for just a solo oscar is pushing it. They get up to 12+ inches. JDs are very territorial fish and a 40g doesn't leave much room to stake their claim. It seems like it would be quite crowded.

I agree, even if they were all 2" babys they will outgrow a 40 in a few months. If you must do it you need strong filtration and at least once a week water changes.

Yeap I agree, you will need to go larger for those fish to be content.Otherwise you will have fussing and that can get quite ugly especially with tank busters, who may, indeed bust the tank if the fight hard enough.

Thumbs up Re: piklmike

Thanks, that's what I figured.I'm working a deal on a 180gal. hope to have it after the first of the month. At the moment each has their own tank,J.D.'s 30 ea. Tiger Oscar in a 40g.These guys are less than a year old and are 7 & 8 inches long already.
