Default The perfect filter for a 38g aquarium?

I currently have a 38g FW tank that I use a penguin 200 HOB filter w/ biowheel for. I'm interested in upgrading the filtration however and I have looked over the web so long now (2 months) that I am just sick of looking. I thought I'd post this and get some ideas and possible offers from you wonderful people.

Things I want my new filter to do:
- better filtration than my current filter
- no top of the water disturbance
- easy to clean

Any ideas or offers would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with canister filter. The output can go below the water surface to minimize disturbance. An Eheim 2213 would be great for your tank.

Any HOB is going to cause disturbance at the surface if the output is above the water line.

I was definately looking into a canister filter, just not sure which one. That one seems okay, and it's definately cheaper than a rena filstar xp2, which was what I was considering. It's just so darn expensive. I love the design and simplicity though.

Any other suggestions/offers?
