Default Deal Advice

Hi everyone. I'm new to the saltwater side of things so bare with me! I found this ad on Craigslist and I am able to follow through if it is worth it. I can buy for $200, not $350.

Please let me know what your thoughts are! I really appreciate it.

Reef Tank - 37gallon tall - Up & Running (no need to cycle!)

My 37gallon tall reef tank is for sale because I have up-sized to new salt water
tank. This tank has been running great for over three years and the water
parameters are in good shape. Best of all is that the live sand base in this
tank is undisturbed and the tank is small enough that it can be moved
without taking the sand out of the tank. You could start putting fish in this
tank NOW.

Most mechanical/electrical items come supplied WITH THE PAPER MANUAL.

$350 for the system includes all of these items:

37 gallon tank - 30" x 12" x 23" - NO LEAKS - back wall is covered on the
inside with coraline algae & on the outside with black plastic background.

Aquarium Stand with Stainless Steel curved front & "stereo cabinet" smoky
glass door. This cabinet was originally made for a 46 bow front - 37" x 32" x 18",
Has a small scratch on lower front right & a area inside the bottom of the
cabinet that is heaved from a water leaf but doesn't affect the outside
appearance [$275 new]

Custom canopy, adds 8" to height, made from 1/4" black opaque shiny
acrylic - good looking, strong, yet easy to lift off.

T-5 Lighting - two 28" long strips (they call them 30" to match the tank width),
each has 2 bulbs, plus 2 extra bulbs that are older but still work (no
manual on this item)

Canister Filter - JBJ Reaction4 EFU-25 - rated for up to 100 gallon tank, built in
UV sterilizer, comes with a few extra unused filter pads to get you started
[$139 to $159 new]

Remora Protein Skimmer, Hang on the back style, Maxi-Jet Submersible pump
[about 14 months old, $165 new]

Refugium, mini sized, hangs on the back and gives you a place for macro
algae & extra live rock, has some Cheato macro algae living in it at the moment

Hood Fan - Ice Cap Variable Speed Canopy Fan [$49.95 new]

Live Sand - enough to fill the tank to a depth of just under 4"

Live Rock - about 15 pounds to get you started; includes two big rocks and
several little ones

Corals - Kenya trees on two of the rocks and some on the back glass
of the tank, another live rock with about 10 green palys

Heater - Tip Fin (no manual)

Circulation pump - MN 606, 159gph, submergible (no manual)

Thermometer (hang on the glass type)

This tank is clean & free of pests.

Everything looks like a winner to me. You might not want to use the filter as a filter, maybe not at all, they tend to trap Nitrates. Might keep it to run GFO, but with a Sump HOB you probably not be using it at all.
