Default SUPER RED Sakura shrimp

I decided to sell off a few 10 packs of my little beauties, $20 for 10. They will be packed in breather bags, Styrofoam lined box with some moss to hang on to. Shipping is usually about $6 These guys come from beautiful adults. The pics are of a few of my females and 1 of my little males.

Pretty. If I had a shrimp tank set up, I'd totally take them, but unfortunately...

From this quarter here too.. I'd love to explore keeping shrimp but haven't a clue as to their requirements.. I've a 10G next to my monitor that I"m using for 10 endlers.. Planted about a month ago but not yet flourishing.. Looking good but not densely planted yet.. What would I need to add for shrimp?. Bill in Va.

Lovely color. I had read that sellers just picked out the reddest females and sold them as Sakura shrimp but even your male is a good red. Out of interest how much variation is there in the color?

Will they breed with RCS & what would the outcome be? Good or Bad? Thanks

Dwarf shrimp (neocardinia, if my spelling is correct) will interbreed but usually the cross breeding results in very drab offspring. They also are some of the only aquarium shrimp that can breed in strictly freshwater.

They like low nitrates, no nitrite, no ammonia, low hardness and alkalinity, and LOTS of plants and structures. They have a particular affinity for mosses and dense ground covers like baby tears. In a tank with dwarf shrimp you also need to put foam prefilters over your filter inlets and other mechanical devices that use pumps like a powerhead or CO2 reactor, as the shrimp stand a good chance of being sucked up.

Lastly, dwarf shrimp need to be kept in a tank with very small fish, or no fish at all, as anything even the size of a tetra or guppy will try and eat them, and especially their babies. A school of otos makes a great tankmate for shrimp.

Just my thoughts...
