Default 6" pleco for rehoming

I am very sad about this but I need to rehome my pleco. He is just too big for my little 20 gal tank. He is in beautiful condition as some of you know...I have more pics of him in my gallery. He was in a 45 gal but I had to downsize and now he is just not able to fit in well. It is just about breaking my heart as I love him but I must do what is right for him.

I do not want to ship him, so I am hoping to find a new loving tank at least 40 gal somewhere here in Western Mass. If you live anywhere around the Rt 91 corridor, and have a big cycled tank for him, please let me know.

I don't want any money, but if you have extra plants or small spare piece of driftwood, I'd gladly take them off your hands in trade.

hey there!

I hope you can find a home for him!

If you can't, I would be more than happy to take him but unfortunately you would have to ship him here. If I can be of any help, let me know.

I have a 55 gallon by the way.

I get the same way too with my fish. I know people say that "they are just fish" but they are important to me. I sympathize with you.

Good luck in rehoming him,he is very nice looking.Fat and healthy.Shipping is not as hard as you would think. The hardest part is making the bags not too tight, and placing one in the other, upside down to avoid any sharp corners.I would suggest if you do ship him to get some heat packs or wait until its a little warmer.

Thanks Bev...I really didn't know how that would all work. He would really have enough air? I've never gotten any fish in the mail, I'm sure it is fairly straight-forward. I would be a worrywort about him that's for sure. And you are right about the heating pads. We have been in the negative digit temps for the last couple days!!

Hi - Good luck with rehoming your friend. If I had a larger tank, I'd consider him. I'm in South Eastern Mass & my tank is only a 30g & it's pretty populated. Just curious, I've never done this but how about a LFS, maybe they would take him? Hope things work out, they usually do.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, my LFS would take him back but he would be so unhappy there. It is a crappy store basically, and many fish die in the tanks and they don't remove them very often. I couldn't do that to him. I actually am going to post an ad of him at another store and see if anyone wants him there. He is doing ok in the smaller tank but I worry about him banging into something and harming himself, and one of my other fish may have been whacked by him once already (she died). So, lesson here is...research the size of fish before buying!

Welcome to the forum btw!

My pleco found a new home! Looks like a nice tank and has a big cave for hiding. Kind of bittersweet but better for me and him/her
