I admit I don't know much about snails, but this baffles me. I posted two pictures of a snail extended on his 'foot' until his body is vertical. He was emitting a stream of something from his exit tube. That is the tube beside his head. It looked like smoke. I know it wasn't smoke, but that is what it looked like. A trail of smoke from the end of a cigarette. This continued for about 5 minutes, then he resumed his normal horizontal position and continued feeding.
The only thing that has changed in his environment is the addition of a large (25 lbs) piece of Tonga live rock. This introduction was followed by a diatom and cynobacteria explosion. The live rock was cured. It smelled like seawater and was kept wet for the 1 hour between the time I bought it and the time it went into my tank. What is this snail doing?? |

Better words, snail sperm?? He is trying to reproduce before he dies? I think he is dead. He hasn't moved in over 24 hours. And I can hardly see his shell for all the algae growing on it. This tank is out of control and the snails have either died or quit. Maybe a gallon of muratic acid would help kill all this crap taking over the tank.

Don't know about the snail, might be just a waste dump. Pick him up and see if he is still in there, he won't mind. Mine sit stationary all the time. Also, if you think your not going to get algae on the glass ever, well thats just not the case. Wipe off that crap on your glass.
