I just pulled a 7 in. bristle worm out of my reef! I am pretty sure it came in on my LR, but I know it was nowhere near this size. I took it out of the tank right away because it started squirting a white milky substance into my water!
So my questions are: Do I need to try and get the rest of them out of my tank? If I need to get them out how do I go about doing so? What do they eat. What was it squirting into my tank? And are they harmful to my corals/fish? I will be uploading a picture of the culprit any minute to make sure there is no confusion if i messed up on the identification. ![]()

I don't know a lot about them, but what I've read is that most bristle worms aren't actually harmful to a reef, but there is the odd one that is, but don't take this as a solid fact because I'm not completely sure. I don't know that I would go to all the trouble of trying to get them all out, but maybe if you see one and have an easy way of getting it then get it. Just be careful because some can sting. Good luck!
