After further research believe some of the fish I caught are Gambusia which are fin nippers. Axelrod/Schultz handbook states Gambusia temperament as predaceous and active for its size and will reduce the fins of other fishes to shreds. best kept by itself. (or with Oscars Ha HA)

To late for pictures. Got along great with Oscars, they loved them!

gambusia would bear a closer resemblance to guppies than mollies... if they looked like mollies, they were.

oscars dont mind... its all food to them.

My concern would be feeding wild caught food to captive born animal, what every they had (if anything) now the Oscar has....

They did look more like guppies. I kept the mollies.One a large female and a smaller male, both green.

I've been feeding wild collected fish to my tiger shovel nose for about six months now. he's growing like a weed.

but, you are correct in the concern over live foods transmitting disease. The only thing is that diseases are density dependent factors. this means that the higher the density of hosts, the faster the diseases will spread. so, if we compare the density of farmed food fish with densities of wild populations... there would be more disease risk using store bought feeders as apposed to wild collected fish.

Ideally, we would only feed dried foods (but we don't LOL)
