Gold Coast Aquarium Society of South Florida - GCAS This forum is for all members and prospective members of the Society to stay in touch. The GCAS is a casual club of freshwater hobbyists of all experience levels who meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. The meetings start with time to mingle, then a quick review of club business, usually followed by a presentation given by a club member or invited speaker, and finally an auction of fish, plants, and products. Usually we have coffee and cookies for refreshments.

Default Nerite snails - where to buy?

Petco is selling Chinese Algae Eaters as "community fish" for $1.00; however, the link below explains that CAEs are horrid predators and the very opposite of a community fish:

AlgaeEaterFAQs

They recommend Nerite snails to control green algae. Does anyone know of a good local source for Nerite snails?

CAEs are freshwaterautolinker.com autolinking image, and GCASSF is a freshwaterautolinker.com autolinking image club; Nerites = freshwater.

Nerites are freshwaterautolinker.com autolinking image, but the eggs will only hatch in saltautolinker.com autolinking image. The only place where I have found nerites is online. Not to many lfs carry them. You might check aquabid for them. Also AZGardens carry them but they have rather high shipping rates.
