Gold Coast Aquarium Society of South Florida - GCAS This forum is for all members and prospective members of the Society to stay in touch. The GCAS is a casual club of freshwater hobbyists of all experience levels who meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. The meetings start with time to mingle, then a quick review of club business, usually followed by a presentation given by a club member or invited speaker, and finally an auction of fish, plants, and products. Usually we have coffee and cookies for refreshments.

Smile allfish emporium is hosting our biz cards!

There is a new store which had its Grand Opening this weekend - allfish emporium, located at the southeast corner of University & McNab (formerly Big Al's). At the last GCASSF meeting I attended, I asked Lloyd for some of the Club's advertising materials, and he gave me an 8-1/2 x 11 flyer and a stack of GCASSF business cards. I promised to cover the territory from Big Al's to University & Sunrise. He advised me that Big Al's was extremely resistant to hosting our materials.

Well, I talked to the allfish emporium store manager on Sunday, and he agreed to let us post our business card at the checkout. There are three (3) checkout lanes, and the GCASSF business card is now taped to the counter (using transparent wide packaging tape), right in front of the credit card swiper, on ALL THREE CHECKOUT LANES.

Mission accomplished!

Petco on University, just south of All Fish & near the Tamarac Publix on University, is now hosting our business cards, and in fact they are more willing to do so than All Fish, which took down our cards

All Fish is now demanding that we get plastic business card holders & put a supply of cards in there, instead of taping one card to the counter. I bought some clear plastic business card holders from Staples (they were recently on sale for $1 each!) and I will get some more GCASSF cards at the November meeting & see if we can get the All Fish situation fixed.

In the meantime, anyone can go to the Tamarac Petco & see our cards taped to the counter in front of the card swiper on all 3 checkout lanes - they have been there for several weeks now & it looks like a successful placement!
