I recently got back into keeping a SW setup. I ran one for 4yrs when I was stationed in the UK and it was fun until (my pest) trashed my tank.. I was the unfortunate receiver of a rogue mantis shrimp, needless to say it ruined a nice setup.
Anyway.... I am currently running a 29g BioCube, 20lbs of "live" sand and about 30ish lbs of live rock. (Pictures will come later) My tank is currently in the "ugly" stage of cycling... The brown fuzzy stage.. But it will come around.. I plan on adding my first fish about Dec time frame.. ( I like to wait and let the live rock do the work ) And will probably be adding zoa's and shrooms about mid or end of May. ( Again I like to wait ) I am currently running my tank pretty stock with the exception of the carbon.. I hope I don't ask too many "n00b" questions and that ya'll are patient with me as I find myself re-entering the hobby... |

Mantis shrimp can indeed cause turmoil. You've got the right mindset. If you just take it slow and research every move before you make it, you should do fine. We'll be happy to help in any way we can. I posted a few stickies in the beginner's thread that you might want to check out. It's probably refresher for you but you may find a few interesting items to note (I know I did). This is one hobby where I don't think you ever stop learning.
