I found a really good deal on a Oceanic cube with stand on craigslist. Not a biocube just a glass cube aquarium. Anyway this tank has a tiny chip on a corner like a grain of rice size. It also has this terrible red paint which I assume is why it was so discounted. It's just the trim so I will paint it black. Fixed! Anyway I ended up buying it and will retire my 10 gallon after I cycle this new one. My question now...
Do I have to drill to make a sump? I m not confident enough to drill a hole in glass... Last edited by Levi : 04-04-2011 at 07:52 PM. |

No, you don't have to drill. You can buy a overflow box and all you will need is a return pump.

Cool thanks. I was looking at some of those hang on back overflows and they seem nifty enough for my needs. I was bummed about drilling an the video I had seen didn't help anything lol they made it look hard too

Well i bought my sump and overflow over the weekend. I found a local club and they have all sorts of deals. I ended up getting a sump, overflow and all the plumbing for free! I am setting it up on my next day off. It's a bit longer than my stand so it will stick out in the back but of well lol I can deal with that. i also found a great deal on a 175W MH, I'm getting that Thursday. Any suggestions on how I can mount it or hang it? I can't do it from the ceiling due to a can light being right above the aquarium. Here's a pic of what i'm working with.

Could you get a few boards and tack them to the back of your stand to hang your light from? Other than that, looks like you got some good deals.

the light for 50 bucks lol I'm excited! The bulb is only a month old too. That alone is worth more than I'm paying. I might end up getting a pole or something. Maybe a cheap lamp and replace the head.

you could get a wall mounted hanger thing.. hooks to the wall, has a pole that sticks out horizontally, and hooke it to the lamp.

be careful with the heat from the mh bulb. you may need to put a fan aimed at the water to push the heat off the tank and don't put it to close to the water.

Awesome, I like the scape.. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the tank? How about the overflow box?
