Hi everyone,
First I gotta say that the amount of info on here is overwhelming, I've spent many hours going through all the threads trying to gain as much knowledge as possible. I was hoping to get some advice on starting a nano reef. I currently have an AquaOne Start 340 by AquaMode (10G/40L) bow front tank. I have the impression that the filter and lighting that comes with the tank won't be sufficient for a nano reef, and I'm willing to remove the top cover so I can attach my own filter and lights to it. I was just wondering how much sand, live rock and what sort of filter I should have. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Sounds like a great little tank. You will want at least 10-15 lbs of sand and 15-20 lbs of live rock. Are you planning to run a sump? You can always stash some of the rock and sand in your sump allowing more room in your display. Also, with a 10g, you might explore LED lighting. This is a great option as you will never have to change bulbs and they produce less heat.
