I see why you would use it only to decrease the light cone a bit more. I see it as being a bad idea only for heat though. You probably could do something similar by switching to a LED par 38 type fixture without having to worry about the heat.

The ZooMed works great with my dimmable Par 38. Nothing gets hot. Height adjustable. Could also use the double fixture for two Par 38s. This brings the fixture in at around $50. Maybe a bit much but it is steady, height adjustable, and holds two lights.
