Question Refugium Cleaning Frequency

How often should a hang-on refugium filter combo be cleaned? I am thinking of the refugium part. Lot of stuff gets down in the bottom.

Default Re: Refugium Cleaning Frequency

A refugium is not really meant to be touched. Thats why it's called a refugium, because it's a refuge for unwanted bacteria, algae and other critters. You could clean the glass around it, but leave all the 'nasty stuff'. It will benefit your system as it matures.
