Default New to skimmers

I just got my aquaticlife 115 skimmer and an wondering if the water that collects in the cup , will evenly need to be replaced, and if so would it be considered evaporation and need to be replaced with freshwater or saltwater. I have opened up the outgoing flow all of the way and seems to be collecting a lot of foam/water, is that normal or is the skimmer just doing it's job and my water was really in need of a skimmer?
Thanks

Yes you will need to empty the collection cup once it is full. If the collection cup water is clear then it isn't skimming properly and you need to turn the out flow down until your foam water at least turns a slight brown color.

Yes you will need to replace the collected water if its excessive. The salt is removed with the skimmate so you would replace it with new saltwater.

When a skimmer is adjusted properly it will be more of a dry foam rather than lots of liquid so replacement is not much of an issue. Your skimmer should have adjustments that can be made like the height of the water in the skimmer neck, air intake and water flow, all of these can be varied to get the best skimmate production.

New skimmers often skim wet until they are seasoned or broken in, usually a week or two. Once seasoned work on the adjustments to get a nice dry foam or at least cut down on the liquid in the cup.
