Default New filter and lighting for 12x30" 30 gal.

I have a 12x30" top 30 gallon salt water aquarium with an eclipse top(PFE3), light ballast and filter all built in. The ballast just died, it keeps destroying our florescent lights. Two new tubes one at a time in different spots and the same thing with two older tubes that worked when we last took them out.

A new ballast for this thing would be $80 and for that price we figure we could just get a whole new setup. There is about 6" between the back of the aquarium and the wall so there should be room for one of those back hanging filters.

But for the lighting, I'm wondering if I should go with LED instead of florescent. I've only seen one LED top this size online and it had relatively good, but few reviews but I figured if there was only one product maybe this isn't something people are doing yet?

I'm just looking for some opinions on an approach.

Thanks!

LED would be your best bet. For efficiency and space.

I have a Marineland LED light and I LOVE it. It makes the water and my betta look beautiful and it doesn't heat up the tank at all, which is good for me since I live in Arizona. :D Oh and get one with blue LED's too if you can. I think they look really nice.
