Reef Aquarium Filtration: AquaFuge External Hang-On Refugium
Has any one had any experience with this product? It says it comes with its on power head and pump so will this automatically filter into the tank or do I still have to set up something else? I was thinking about adding this to my 40g breeder.

That is plug and play so to speak the only thing its missing IMO is a light for the macro. I use to use the small one on my 29 gallon and it worked ok . I wonder if there is a reason you dont want to go with a sump/fuge under your tank it would make things easier and cheaper IMO.

can you help break it down for me? My other problem is that I'm more visual so just telling me doesn't work as good as me seeing it. And if I use this product or make one does that mean I don't buy a filter? Or do I have the filter and protine skimmer attached to the refuigam instead of the main tank?

OK the best way is to have the tank drilled for the overflow but a hangon overflow works also.
Reef Aquarium Filtration: Eshopps Overflow Boxes Then get a tank that will fit in your stand and get 3 pieces of glass cut to fit and silicone them in place. ![]() This is one I built out of a 10 gallon for my little cube. ![]() This is the one for my 65 gallon ![]() I feel if you go this way you will have a cleaner look and you can get a better skimmer for less money. I never run PVC when they are in the stand just get some clear tubeing for the drop from the overflow and for the return from the pump. |

The sump/fuge and skimmer along with good flow is all the filtration you will need

I always like going as big as I can fit so I would think you could get a 29 gallon in a stand. I know the 29 is 30 inches long and the 40 breeder is 36 inches long so thats why I say a 29. I think you could come up with 10 inches for the skimmer section and then about 8 inches for the return pump and the center for macro algeas.
