You should up the watttage if your going with 20k lamps. 250w should do it. I run 14k 175w Halides, did you not like that color?

Don't know if you are using a single ended lamp, but, for what its worth these are the ones I use. I get 2 for the price of one of the Brand Name lamps.

Oh, and the 20k lamps are the bomb also in respects to the blue color. Just fantastic looking. imo. But again, I would use 250w halides to get the light needed. I tried em in 175w, man they look nice.

One thing I would like to point out about those bulbs and I've used them in the past myself, they do loose par pretty fast so they should be changed every 6 to 9 months. As far as the 20k's go you get amazing color in the tank but coral growth can be slower depending on the type coral you are keeping.

Would depend on which clam. One you can put in the rocks, yes. Other than that the 175w 20k does not have enough light to sustain a bottom clam. 250w 20k, yes.
